Ann Pirvu is a dynamic young actress and filmmaker. Born into a family of engineers in Romania, she developed a keen interest in poetry, history and the vibrancy of European art & culture. The family moved to Canada when Ann was 12, where she was instantly drawn to drama class, theatre, and making films.

2016 is set to be Ann’s break- out year, showcasing her versatility as an actress both on the small and big screen.

First up: the North American Theatrical Release of Ridgerock Entertainment's The Masked Saint (January 8, US | January 22, Canada), starring film and television icon Diahann Carroll and the late pro wrestling Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. Inspired by true events, this family friendly action-packed film features Ann as a sassy, small town waitress who helps the title character fight injustice and evade police.

She also recurs opposite Riley Keough in Steven Soderbergh's racy new series, The Girlfriend Experience, set to debut at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and air on the STARZ network in January – and has a second feature slated to hit theaters in 2016, starring as “Queen of Mean” Becca Henley in Digerati Films' Total Frat Movie.

Past small screen credits include roles on YTV & TeenNick's new series Open Heart, Odd Squad for PBS, Breakout, HBO Canada’s Living In Your Car, the female lead in multiple award-winning WWII drama The Junction, as well as recurring as Bethune Hospital's popular therapeutic clown Josey on the first season of Remedy.

She’s recently appeared in comedies like Servitude and SwearNet: The Movie, and also voices quirky Rainbow on the CBC/Channel 9 Australia animated series G2G.

Ann got her first break in 2004 when she landed a lead role in the sci-fi indie feature Little Pictures, an experience that greatly inspired the development of her first passion project the following year-- directing and acting in the award-winning feature Pure Malice. The momentum brought her to Toronto to pursue acting as a career, working on numerous film projects and taking classes.

Ann has a bachelor degree in Broadcast Journalism from Ryerson University and an International Baccalaureate Diploma. She spent four years production coordinating and producing lifestyle television, while acting and writing, and continues to develop her own projects.

Her 2009 documentary film Benchmarked received the

Ross McLean Memorial Award.
